Personal Information

Jonathan is a barrister and partner the Turks and Caicos Islands’ law firm of Miller Simons O’Sullivan; he is also a director M&S Trust Company Limited a licensed trust company and corporate service provider. He was originally called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1990. He practiced at the bar in London until his move to the Turks and Caicos Islands where he was called to the Bar in 2002 and appointed as Queens Counsel in 2019. Jonathan advises banks and other regulated financial service businesses, including international insurance companies and investment dealers, on a wide range of compliance and regulatory matters. Jonathan also acts in contentious matters where disciplinary and/or enforcement action is being taken by the regulator at Supreme Court and Court of Appeal level. Cases include those involving de-risking, liquidating insurance entities and a bank, and challenging the revocation of financial services licenses. He is a regular speaker on compliance issues as well at conferences on international reinsurance and trusts. He is a member of Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, a Fellow of the International Compliance Association, a member of the UK’s Institute of Directors and also the immediate past president of the Turks and Caicos Island Bar Association.
