Personal Information

Rickie Davis is a corporate attorney with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University, a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Nova Southeastern, Shepard Broad Law Center and a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School. He migrated to the British Virgin Islands where he was called to the bar in that Jurisdiction and practiced there for 12 years. Prior to returning to Jamaica, he was in-house Legal Advisor as well as a director of Morgan & Morgan Trust Corporation (now MMG Trust (BVI) Limited). In this capacity he was responsible for all legal advice to the trust company, its clients, and its affiliate branches in China, Belize, London, Geneva, Zurich and Panama. In this role he was required to liaise with the BVI Financial Services Commission (FSC) as he was responsible for all matters relating to the BVI FSC. On his return to Jamaica, he joined Grace Kennedy Limited as one of the four (4) resident legal counsels. Duties assigned included assisting with divestments, acquisitions, contracts and HR issues relating the parent company and some of the subsidiaries. Mr. Davis joined the Jamaica International Financial Services Authority (JIFSA), an agency currently under the Ministry of Investment Industry and Commerce, as its Technical Legal Advisor in 2019. He has been the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the agency since June 2021. The JIFSA is the statutory body charged with the responsibility of developing the legislation to take Jamaica into the financial services industry domestically and internationally.
