Tariq Amjad

Personal Information

Tariq Amjad is the Managing Director of Motorworld Group of Companies, which is comprised of Motorworld, Caribbean Auto, Audi St. Maarten and Dollar/Thrifty Car Rental. Tariq is the son of Imran Mcsood and Farina Amjad, Chairman and CEO of Motorworld Group of Companies, respectively. He was born in St. Maarten where he completed his primary and secondary education and then travelled to the USA where he studied Finance at the tertiary level.

Tariq and his beautiful wife, Manisha Amjad, are proud parents of three bright and beautiful children, Zara, Zayn and Ziya.

Tariq ascribes a large part of his strong leadership and understanding of successful business ventures, growth and management to his parents; through observing how hard and passionately they work over the years. With his lifelong quest for knowledge, he also credits his wealth of knowledge from reading and collecting several books on business leadership and management.

Tariq credits the core of his success to his personal passion for innovative business ventures, and encourages everyone to do what they love. Tariq strongly believes that it is fundamental to have a comprehensive understanding of your business from the ground up. Therefore, after moving back to St. Maarten, he had seen it fitting to start working from the “grassroots” level of the Motorworld Group of Companies, where he began his career by washing cars. Tariq is humble. He is respected and regarded as a true people’s person, as he genuinely cares and believes in highlighting the good qualities in others and showing appreciation for everyone’s efforts. He believes that empowerment is a very powerful and effective tool and subscribes to a management style that is mostly democratic and focuses on motivating, training and facilitating a happy, positive and productive working environment. He believes in investing in the personal and professional development of our people and always encourages the youth to work hard, as he often says: “Success is not a birthright. It is earned. Work hard, give your all, love what you do and do it with passion.”
