Tamara Bassett is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, and finance. As Manager of Regulatory and Resource Planning at Pelican Energy TCI, she oversees regulatory affairs and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Tamara works closely with regulatory bodies, stakeholders and internal teams to shape and implement regulatory strategies.
With a distinguished career spanning over 18 years at Baker Tilly Turks and Caicos(formerly KPMG), where she served as Head of Regulatory Compliance, Tamara has developed a strong background in navigating complex regulatory landscapes.Tamara’s expertise encompasses regulatory remediation, gap analysis, compliance audits, business risk assessments, and anti-money laundering (AML) and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) training and testing.
She is currently the President of the Compliance Association of the Turks and Caicos Islands, demonstrating her commitment to promoting compliance excellence in the region. Tamara also serves as a Director of the Caribbean Regional Compliance Association (CRCA), a role she stepped into in 2024 after serving on the steering committee since 2016.
Tamara is a Fellow of the International Compliance Association (FICA). She also holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of the West Indies. Tamara is also a Chartered Director (C. Dir.).
Tamara is guided by a passion for excellence in compliance, risk management, and governance, driving long-term value and sustainability. She embodies this in both her professional and personal life.
